The Society writes personal lines property coverages with major emphasis on homeowner policies. Dwelling fire, personal articles floater and personal umbrella liability policies are available for qualified policyholders.

All new Mutual Assurance Society of Virginia policies must meet underwriting criteria and guidelines.

Homeowners Policy:
A homeowners insurance policy is a package policy that combines more than one coverage in a single policy form.

  • Dwelling: Coverage on owner occupied primary or secondary residence
  • Other Structures: Coverage for detached garage, storage building, etc.
  • Unscheduled Personal Property: coverage for furniture, appliances, clothing, etc. owned or used by policyholder
  • Scheduled Personal Endorsement: Coverage for jewelry, furs, guns and fine arts. Appraisals less than two years old are required to initially insure items covered under this endorsement to the homeowner policy.
  • Additional Living Expenses: Coverage for reasonable increase in living expenses when your home becomes uninhabitable after a covered loss
  • Personal Liability: Coverage for damages which you are determined to be legally obligated to pay
  • Medical Payments: Coverage to pay medical expenses of guests who are injured


Dwelling Fire Policy:

Coverage for one or two family dwellings which are tenant occupied

Personal Umbrella Liability Policy:
Additional coverage for personal liability. This policy provides coverage for personal liability after coverage has been exhausted under your underlying homeowners, auto and/or boat policies.
