A Great New Tool To Help With Your Home Inventory

If you’ve been putting off creating your home inventory because the task seems too daunting, we may have a solution for you.

A new app called HomeZada offers tools to help you manage your home inventory, finances, and maintenance all in one place. The Home Inventory and Property Details tools are free and very easy to use. This post will walk you through how to set up your account and start your home inventory.

As stated above, the home inventory tool is free to use. There are other tools available, as you’ll see on the sign up page, but for the purposes of this post we’ll deal with home inventory alone.

You can sign up by clicking here. Once you’ve created your user name and password, you can select the free plan and start entering your home information.

Enter Home Information

The next section asks you to enter general information about your home, such as number of bedrooms, number of baths, and the type of property you own (single family, condo, townhouse, etc.). This takes between 3-4 minutes, depending on whether or not you know the answers off the top of your head or have to do a mental tour to tally up spaces.

Confirm Your Spaces

You’ll be asked next to confirm the details you have entered. HomeZada presents you with a list of the typical spaces that are associated with the type of home you have entered. You then add and remove those that apply. For example, you may not have a home office but you do have a finished basement playroom. Just swap out what you need. Plus, you can label your rooms as it suits you. You can label an upstairs bath, a downstairs bath, and a basement bath to distinguish them.

Enter Your Possessions

HomeZada pre-populates your personal belongings (clothes, furniture, lamps, small appliances, etc.) and your fixed assets (furnace, water heater, stove, etc.).

It also asks you here to confirm whether or not you have an in-ground pool. Just click on Populate My Spaces and you’ll be taken to the HomeZada Dashboard.

Navigating The HomeZada Dashboard

Once you reach the HomeZada Dashboard, you’ll see that there are six areas of information the app can manage:

Property Details  |  Inventory  |  Maintenance  |  Projects  |  Finances  |  For Sale

Property Details and Inventory are part of the free version. The others are included in the paid Premium and Deluxe versions. Once you have conquered the free sections, you may want to consider paying for the additional tools so you can manage your home expenses, maintenance, and other finances in one place.

Property Details

HomeZada has already populated this information based on what you have already entered. Simply review and edit this information to fit your home.

Inventory

The Property Details section automatically connects with the Inventory section. Here you can start entering individual items based on the spaces, include the space dimensions, and even paint color and light fixture details.

You can also upload photos by space and then tag them by space. It is less confusing to upload photos by space so you can make sure you have them in the right place. Spacing out this part of the project is less frustrating and likely more accurate.

Bonus

HomeZada has some wonderful videos the help you quickly create your home inventory with easy to follow tutorials.

If you are still self-isolating at home, now is the perfect time to tackle this very important task. Completing your home inventory will give you peace of mind should the worst happen. One less thing to worry about in this day and age is so important, and HomeZada makes it simple and easy to do.
